American Forest & Paper Association Releases Q3 2021 Containerboard Quarterly Report

WASHINGTON – The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released its Q3 2021 Containerboard Quarterly report.

Total Containerboard production in Q3 increased nine percent compared to Q3 2020. It was up seven percent when compared to the same nine months of 2020.

  • Q3 2021 production of containerboard for export increased ten percent compared to the same quarter last year; it was down 15 percent year-to-date.
  • The containerboard operating rate was 95.6 percent, up 1.7 points from Q3 2020 and up 1.5 points year-to-date.
  • Mill inventories of containerboard at the end of September increased 35,000 short tons from the end of the previous quarter and were up 19,000 short tons compared to September 2020.
