What is COVID-19?
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in people and can cause symptoms similar to the common cold.
A novel coronavirus causes a respiratory disease commonly referred to as COVID-19 and has not previously been seen in humans. COVID-19 presents with
respiratory illness like symptoms that include fever, cough and shortness of breath that can become quickly life-threatening. Research shows it spreads primarily through person-to-person contact.
Scientists and health experts are working vigorously to learn about the new strain.
