WASHINGTON – American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) President and CEO Donna Harman today issued the following statement in response to Washington Gov. Jay Inslee directing state officials to draft new clean water rules to submit to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA).

“While we appreciate Gov. Inslee’s willingness to work with stakeholders to protect public health and ensure attainable water quality standards, we believe his original proposal met the needs of Washington state residents. Local communities know what is best for their needs; EPA’s involvement in this instance is a classic case of federal overreach.”
