WASHINGTON – The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) today announced its support of Manufacturing Day 2014 today.

The annual Manufacturing Day is co-produced by
manufacturing industry leaders and gives manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is to help communities better understand the role manufacturing in society and the jobs they bring. AF&PA represents an industry that is among the top 10 manufacturing employers in 47 states, employing nearly 900,000 men and women across the country.

“The paper and wood products manufacturing industry represents 4 percent of U.S. manufacturing GDP, and we achieve this through innovative and sustainable business practices that have stood the test of time and will continue to propel us in the future,” said AF&PA President and CEO Donna Harman. “We support Manufacturing Day to help show how the paper and wood products people depend on every day are made and how our members’ facilities support their communities through family-wage jobs and other important contributions.”
